What is Camino?

In addition to well-known routes of Camino De Santiago in France, Spain and Portugal a new – official extension of this road – Camino Latvia is being created.
It will start at border with Estonia and lead through Latvia, continuing in Lithuania, Poland, Germany, France and Spain. Thus, every pilgrim will be able to include this stage in the Camino, while it is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Latvia to start their journey to Santiago almost from the doorway of their house.

Overall, the route in Latvia is approximately 562 km long. It starts in Valka, continues in Valmiera, Cēsis, Sigulda, Krimulda, Carnikava, Vecāki till Rīga. Further from Riga, it breaks down in two directions. Through the Mārupe, Tīreļi, Līvbērze, Dobele, Tērvete to Augstkalne (LT, Zagare) or through Salaspils, Ikšķile, Ogre, Ķegums, Vecumieki, Brukna, Bārbele to Skaistkalne (LT, Germaniski). There, at the country's borders Camino Latvia wish everyone a Buen Camino already in Lithuanian.
